Kobuk Valley National Park

This National Park isa remote and pristine wilderness located in Northwest Alaska. The park protects a vast expanse of rolling sand dunes, a caribou preserve, and the Kobuk, Salmon and Ahtell Rivers. It also offers incredible opportunities for wildlife sightings, boulder fields, and some of the most magnificent vistas of the Arctic.

Sand Dunes

Kobuk Valley National Park is home to many diverse types of sand dunes, ranging from large fixed dunes to smaller and constantly shifting dunes. There are three primary types of dunes that form in the park, which include linear, star and parabolic shapes. These dunes are created by the wind and form some of the most iconic landscapes in the Kobuk Valley.

Wildlife Watching

With large concentrations of caribou and migratory birds, this remote park is the perfect place to view native Alaskan animals in their natural environment. Additionally, the Kobuk River is home to brown and black bears, moose, beavers, and the occasional wolf.

Winter Activities

Hiking and skiing are popular activities in the area, with the park offering wide-open spaces of quiet and untouched snowy terrain. For an even more unique experience, visitors can join a guided snowshoe and dog sled tour, allowing them to take in the beauty of the area in a really meaningful way.
